About Me

Beth Chafey-Hon
Violinist/Fiddler
A.S.C.A.P. Composer/Arranger

Beth started violin lessons at the age of seven and has loved and played music ever since. Beth studied music at San Diego State University and Grossmont College in California. Among the many private teachers she studied with, she was fortunate to have had the opportunity to take lessons from a professor and some students of the Moscow conservatory. She played violin and viola in recording studios while still in high school and continued to freelance professionally for chamber groups, orchestras, string quartets, and studio work. Beth's main love and expression of music is through her composing and arranging music. She has a CD of her work, "Textured Violin", released in 2003, and is working on three more at Studio 330 in Sturgeon Bay. Beth enjoys trying new styles and experimenting with new sounds and combinations, hence the name of her small company, Capriccio Productions, meaning "instrumental music played in a virtuosity style." Beth, her husband Bob, and her daughter Angel, moved to Door County from San Diego, California. The family has one horse, Tabitha, and three cats. They live in Baileys Harbor in the countryside on County Road A.
